Riaz Gani
In 1995, Riaz Gani embarked on a transformative journey by joining the family retail business, Kit Kat Cash & Carry. Starting as the boss’s son, he quickly learned the ropes from the ground up, shedding his tie and diving into every aspect of the business. At that time, the company had an annual turnover of $12 million USD. Through dedication, hard work, and the support of his family, Riaz rose to the position of CEO. Under his leadership, Kit Kat Cash & Carry grew into one of South Africa’s largest independently owned retail companies, now boasting sales of $250 million USD.
Riaz’s passion for vertical integration and diversification has been a driving force behind the success of Kit Kat Group, the holding company that now oversees various retail, manufacturing, and property divisions. Each division operates independently, yet they are integrated wherever possible, reflecting his strategic vision and business acumen.
Despite the demands of being the CEO of a large family business, Riaz has recently found a balance between work and personal life. He treasures spending quality time with his wife and kids, which he considers his most relaxing and stress-free moments. Additionally, Riaz is an avid golfer and hunter. He is also deeply committed to community service, particularly in supporting education, politics, and the disabled.
